Before the establishment of the One Diem brand, we concretized the concept of inclusive growth as “making the enhancement of happiness for each participant the core idea and practicing this development goal in business models and products, striving to create a harmonious environment for interactions between people and nature.” For us, the success of a brand and its products is not merely about net profit data but about the happiness reflected on the faces of all stakeholders.
Based on the concept of inclusive development, the One Diem brand starts with products, providing emotional value to customers without increasing environmental burdens, while offering better working environments and benefits to product producers. Through our products, we aim to provide “an improving quality of life” for customers and all stakeholders, while maintaining “a balanced relationship between humans and nature.” We recognize that achieving this goal is difficult through our efforts alone, so we unite upstream and downstream businesses to work together towards this common goal.

As business owners, the philosophy of One Diem aligns perfectly with our long-term operational entities. We have adhered to the ESG development strategy for a long time, strictly adhering to national laws and regulations regarding printing emissions and pollutant treatment, establishing VOC and wastewater treatment facilities. Due to the product characteristics, the proportion of raw materials and machinery costs is not as high as that of other packaging printing products. Our factory products have a certain range of added value, and the factory complies with laws and regulations, paying value-added tax, and providing a large number of job opportunities for low-educated personnel and migrant workers. As a traditional manufacturing industry, our employees generally have lower education levels, but I encourage them to learn and promote. In terms of salary and benefits, the owners spare no effort to provide special treatment and corresponding rewards.
We believe that a good working environment is key to producing good products. Therefore, in the production process, workers who need to be in a noisy environment for a long time are provided with soundproof earplugs and protective masks to reduce the incidence of occupational diseases. At the same time, we emphasize reducing noise by reasonable layout of the factory area and installing shock absorbers and building sound insulation measures. In terms of environmental protection, hazardous waste such as wiping cloth and ink drums are handled by professional hazardous waste disposal companies; light-sensitive materials are treated by wastewater treatment devices and reused; general solid waste such as waste edges and corners and domestic waste are collected and transported by environmental sanitation workers; waste aluminum foil can be collected and sold externally. In the work area, emergency handling items such as medical kits are placed in designated areas for each machine and production line; during epidemics, adequate disinfectants, protective masks, antigens, and other materials are provided. In the cafeteria, we regularly inquire about the quality of daily work meals, purchase high-protein, nutritious ingredients, and improve the quality and taste of work meals.
In terms of specific production, we adhere to the spirit of craftsmanship. One of our larger suppliers stated that they will always retain a considerable proportion of manual production lines, providing nearly 240 job positions during peak periods. Not all products can be completed by cold machines, and not every customer has such a large order volume to support machine operation. Everyone is willing to make simple, convenient, cost-effective, and low-cost products.

China is still in the labor-intensive stage, and there are still many low-educated labor groups in manufacturing. They need to be respected and recognized. One Diem has brought our several companies together. What’s more gratifying is that the founding team members of One Diem are very young, but they have already taken on the responsibility of human development.

Products
One Diem adheres to excellent quality, unique design style, and exquisite craftsmanship to provide customers with fair-priced, environmentally friendly products while insisting on sustainable development. Products are not only a material enjoyment but also an enrichment and extension of the spiritual world. In aromatherapy raw materials, we, together with perfumers, collect 31 scents globally to make three products, with source countries including Brazil, Mexico, Iran, India, Tunisia, Morocco, Portugal, Egypt, Paraguay, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Costa Rica, Indonesia, and more. We prefer to collect scents directly from their place of origin to ensure that customers smell the original fragrance. In the cultivation of scent raw materials, we also adhere to the concept of sustainable development: no soil pollution, no excessive use of fertilizers, protection of water resources, etc. In the collection process, we use cold pressing, distillation, natural microbial fermentation, extraction, and other natural techniques without adding any chemical agents to ensure product safety and quality.
In addition to environmental protection, product durability is the key to sustainable development. We hope that One Diem products can accompany customers for a lifetime, bringing a high-quality life. Under this concept, we chose materials for candle and aroma stone containers that can be used for a long time in the early stages of production, so that the products can continue to exist as furniture containers such as pen holders after the design usage period. At the same time, combining the concepts of high-quality life, lifelong companionship, and sustainable development, we propose the “Three-for-One” (infinity scent) business model. After using the candle products, users can collect three empty containers and return them. We will use one of the old cans to provide a refill service, and the other two old cans will be recycled for reuse. Customers can choose the scent for the refill service.
The income from refilling will be used entirely for public welfare activities, dedicated to addressing inequality issues.
Social Value
One Diem strives for balanced distribution among all stakeholders. We firmly believe that each individual is a fundamental element of societal organization. The brand philosophy of One Diem is based on this principle, aiming to benefit all groups involved in product development as much as possible.
The aspiration for a better life is achieved through collective efforts. We establish joint communities with all stakeholders in various aspects such as corporate management, employment patterns, product production, and dividend transfer, aiming to benefit a larger number of groups from One Diem products.
We have reached agreements with suppliers to hire a certain proportion of seniors and disabled individuals, addressing the living issues of elderly people in villages near the factory and providing specific job positions for disabled individuals. To help seniors and disabled individuals adapt to work smoothly, we provide technical training and increase the fault tolerance rate during the manufacturing process.
In terms of improving employee quality of life, we use business revenue for higher wages, better working environments, and living conditions. We offer base salaries 5-10% higher than the average level in traditional manufacturing industries. Additionally, we allocate part of the profits to outstanding employees as travel expenses for holiday visits to their hometowns, and prepare gifts for employees’ relatives, ensuring that distant employees’ families feel cared for by the company. Moreover, on production lines with a higher proportion of female employees, we provide hand creams, shower gels, and other labor protection supplies.
Furthermore, One Diem encourages all upstream and downstream companies to radiate outward. These companies not only provide local employment opportunities but also undertake economic pressure within their capabilities. For example, a factory has contracted a 20-acre orchard in the neighboring village, purchasing peaches from local farmers as employee benefits and gifts for customers, expanding sales channels for farmers and increasing the income of villagers near the factory location.

The goodness of human nature has always been our original intention, a sentiment shared by many companies that have sought to benefit the local economy and their employees for years. In December 2022, our team began preparing for the One Diem project, conducting research around the aromatherapy industry, and drafting and publishing a research report titled “The Rising Popularity of Aromatherapy Candles, Crystal Products, and More Post-Pandemic(Chinese)”.
